Bas Maassen studied econometrics at the Tilburg University in Tilburg, the Netherlands. He started his career with AEF, a management consultancy firm in Utrecht. After five years he changed his career to ING Bank, where he fulfilled several roles in financing, lastly as managing director leveraged finance. In 2001 he joined NPM Capital, a Dutch midsized private equity firm, until 2013. With NPM Capital he was involved in many complex acquisitions and exits, he served as non-executive board member for several investee companies and gained broad experience in governance positions. Late 2013 he became an independent entrepreneur, supporting companies in M&A transaction, fund raising and transformational changes. Bas holds a number of non-executive board memberships and not-for-profit directorships with van Loon Vlees, NL Healthcare, Dogon Vrouwen Initiatief and OP Zuid. In the recent past he was chairman of the board at Vanderlande Industries and treasurer at the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockeybond.
