Her Farm, Her Story: Zena’s Journey of Growth with MazaoHub

Meet Zena, a smallholder farmer, widow, and mother of four, and proud grandmother, who has been part of the MazaoHub network for the past three years.

Through MazaoHub’s Farmer Excellence Centres, Zena has received ongoing agronomic support including soil testing, crop monitoring, and access to reliable off-take markets. She is also an active member of Malkia wa Shamba, a women's farmers’ group that promotes climate-smart agriculture, financial inclusion, and empowerment opportunities to help break the social norms that degrade women. This work is advanced under MazaoHub's flagship initiative called “Her Farm Story” dedicated to elevating women across the agricultural value chain.

These services have helped her improve productivity, make informed farming decisions, and secure fair market prices for her produce.

With the steady income earned through MazaoHub’s support, Zena has been able to sustain her family, educate her children, purchase her own drip irrigation kit, and even build a home; milestones that reflect her determination and the transformative impact of access to the right tools and training.

Her story is one of resilience and growth, a powerful example of how technology-driven and climate-smart agricultural solutions can empower smallholder farmers to build sustainable livelihoods across Tanzania.
